Kayoko Kanda – Shiatsu practitioner

She was born in Kanagawa in Japan. She spent her childhood in Yokohama, a city rich in nature surrounded by mountains and the sea. In her 20s and 30s, she worked in stage and film production in Paris. There, she discovered shiatsu while practicing dance and yoga. After returning to Japan, she completed specialized training at Japan Shiatsu College and obtained a national license as a shiatsu therapist. Later, she learned shiatsu massage in sports settings by treating students in sports fields. In 2024, she moved to Rotterdam and opened a shiatsu salon.

About the National Shiatsu Certification: In Japan, a national license is required to practice shiatsu. To become a shiatsu therapist, one must attend a nationally accredited school, complete approximately 2,500 hours of study in both Western and Eastern medicine, practical and clinical training , and then take a national examination. Shiatsu is covered by health insurance in Japan.
